Required Items/Steps Checklist

# Description
1 Passport Requirements: Send us your original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s). The Amendment pages in the back of the passport can't be used for visa stamp.
2 Visa Application Form: Two visa application forms per applicant properly completed and signed. Signature must be original on each application. Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa.

RECENT CHANGES TO CHINA REQUIREMENTS

Completing the Visa Application Form of the People’s Republic of China

 Step one: Please read the following carefully before completing the application form:

1.   The Visa Office only accepts the “Visa Application Form of the People’s Republic of China” (Form V.2011A) marked “CNNYCONSULATE JUNE 2011 EDITION” downloaded from the website of the Chinese Consulate in New York. Previous editions or forms downloaded from other sources will not be accepted.

2.   Please consult the “Instructions on the Completion of the Visa Application Form” while completing the application.  All sections must be filled out truthfully on a computer. If a section does not apply to you, please state “N/A”.  Incomplete, hand-written or altered forms will not be accepted.

3.   The completed form should be clearly and completely printed out on letter sized papers. Please use two sided printing if possible.

4.   All applicants must sign the application form even if the form is completed by another person, except that a parent or guardian may sign on behalf of an applicant under the age of 18.

5.   If you are applying for work visa or student visa, or if you are not a US citizen, or if you will be accompanied by anyone who shares the same passport with you, you also need to complete the Supplementary Application Form V. 2011B.

6.   The New York Consulate is now jurisdictional and they will ONLY accept applications from residents of the following states:  Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

7.   French citizens MUST apply in person

 

Step Two: Click relevant links below to complete your application:

3 Photo Requirements: One recent 2 x 2 passport type photograph(s), in color, front view and with a plain/light background.
4 Proof of Departure: Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency, or copy of airline ticket or letter from travel agency.
5 Business cover letter (for business visa applicants only).   Letter from US based employer or sponsoring company, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of visit to China. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant, provide detailed contact information in host country, and specify the number of entries being requested. If a multiple entry visa is requested, this must be indicated in the business letter and tentative date of future travel must be provided.
6 Official invitation on company letterhead with a Chinese Municipal Government Seal (for single and double entry business visa applicants only).
7 Official invitation originating from the Chinese Provincial Government (for multiple entry business visa applicants only).
8 Complete the Passport Rush Service Order Form You must include a copy of this form with all other supporting documents. (NOTE: Consular fees are NON-refundable. If visa is rejected and resubmitted new consular fees will apply).

Visa Validity

Single entry visas are to be used within 3 months of issue. Double entry visas can be issued for 3 or 6 months, but usually 3 months. Multiple entry visas are based on the invitation for either 6 or 12 months. Time allowed to stay in China is 30 days for most visas.

Visa Processing Time

Chinese visa applications are usually processed in 5-6 business days. Rush 3-4 day visa service is available in most locations for additional fees. Rush and Emergency service is defined as any attempt made by Passport Rush to retrieve the visa in less time than the amount required by the embassy to process the visa.

Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.
