Ghana

A country of western Africa on the Gulf of Guinea. It was inhabited in pre-colonial times by a number of ancient kingdoms, including an inland Ashanti kingdom and various Fante states along the coast. Trade with European states flourished after contact with the Portuguese in the 15th century, and the British established a crown colony, Gold Coast, in 1874.  Ghana became independent in 1957.

Passport Requirements: Send us your original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s).

Visa Application:  Two visa application forms per applicant properly completed and signed. Signature must be original on each application. Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa.  NOTE:  At the end of the application applicants must choose delivery by “Counter”.

Photo Requirements: Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background. Affix one photograph to each Ghana visa application in the upper right hand corner by staple or glue.

4 Letter Of Invitation from Ghana: Applications submitted in New York require a letter of invitation from the host in Ghana including full residential address and telephone number as well as a copy of the hosts Ghanaian ID, Passport or Ghana Visa if staying with a friend or relative OR Attestation from Hotel duly signed by an accredited staff member, confirming the reservation (Note: unsigned email communication is not accepted)

Proof of Departure: Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency or copy of airline ticket showing entry and departure from Ghana.

For Business Travelers:  Business Letter - Original letter from employer or sponsoring company, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Ghana.   The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Ghana. 

7 Medical Requirements: Applications submitted in New York require an international certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever.

Complete the Passport Rush Service Order Form You must include a copy of this form with all other supporting documents. (NOTE: Consular fees are NON-refundable. If visa is rejected and resubmitted new consular fees will apply).

Hotel Confirmation: A hotel confirmation from the hotel manager, signed on hotel letter head, including the name of the traveler and the exact dates of the stay in Ghana.

Letter Of Invitation from Ghana for Business visas:

A letter of invitation from sponsor (either host company or individual) explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Ghana. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, (including full residential address and telephone number), and contact information. A copy of the hosts Passport must be included, and residency permit if not a Ghanaian citizen.

Visa Validity

Single entry visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. Multiple entry visas are valid from 6 months to 5 years depending on the purpose of the trip and consul's decision.

Visa Processing Time

Visas are usually processed in 7 working days.  Rush service may be available for additional fees.  Rush service is defined as any attempt made by Passport Rush to retrieve the visa in less time than the amount required by the embassy to process the visa.

 

Please Note: The Ghanaian consulate is only open Monday through Thursday. Service fee for regular processing is $50.00. Rush service fee of $100.00 or Emergency service fee of $120.00 will be assessed for any attempts to process the visa in less than regular processing time.

Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.
